First Deal Made Through Chamber's Pacesetters Initiative

The Pacesetters Initiative is a partnership of large and midsized Greater Boston Chamber member organizations who use their collective purchasing power to create opportunities at scale for local minority business enterprises (MBEs). Eleven Chamber member organizations have joined the first cohort focused on diminishing the region’s wealth disparity by creating opportunities at scale for local minority-owned businesses.

Participating companies collaborate on sharing supplier diversity best practices and strive to identify ways to increase spending with minority-owned businesses. Pacesetter organizations are collaborating with a number of business support organizations to create new contract opportunities, including the newly established Business Equity Initiative (BEI) launched by the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation.

Through this important partnership, the first new contract between a Pacesetter company and a BEI business has been signed between Tufts Health Plan and Done Right Building Services. Both companies shared their thoughts with the Chamber on what this partnership means for their company and the Greater Boston business community.


At Tufts Health Plan, we are committed to working with diverse suppliers to support economic growth in the region as well as to better reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We are pleased to be the first Pacesetter organization to sign a contract with a member of the inaugural BEI cohort, minority-owned business Done Right Building Services, to service office facilities at our Watertown headquarters.

As Tom Croswell, our president and CEO has noted, "we believe strongly that our business should not only be a reflection of our diverse communities, but also play an integral role in ensuring local small businesses thrive. This is just one reason why supplier diversity is a key element of our diversity and inclusion strategy.”

The signing of this contract not only represents the first manifestation of the opportunities being created for BEI cohorts, but also reinforces our strong commitment to diversity and inclusion throughout our business operations and communities. Our commitment to diverse suppliers exceeded $25M in contracts from 2015-2017. Tufts Health Plan had a longstanding relationship with a previous vendor in this space, however we found enhanced overall value, based on cost and quality of services, could be achieved through contracting with Done Right; fulfilling a foundational goal of the Pacesetters and Business Equity Initiatives.


Done Right Building Services is thrilled to be awarded the first contract through BEI and the Pacesetters Initiative. While Done Right has been in business for over 20 years and exceeds $12M in annual revenues, BEI has been invaluable in this endeavor. BEI is helping Done Right achieve sustainable growth and Tufts Health Plan is a great example of matching our company’s experience, processes and capabilities with the needs of market leaders.

The service contract with Tufts Health Plan represents a union of diversity and value. Our company’s commitment to enhance service quality with our integrated approach to cleaning, creates a win-win value proposition for both organizations.

Tufts Health Plan’s decision to work with diversity suppliers benefits the entire community as well.  Done Right has a legacy of helping other women- and minority-owned businesses, as well as the Greater Boston community. Company President, Anthony Samuels currently serves on the Governor’s Black Advisory Commission, and Done Right has worked extensively with the Boys & Girls Club of Roxbury and ABCD. BEI and Pacesetters are helping companies like Tufts Health Plan achieve best overall value while supporting the community.
