Join us for our June Government Affairs Forum with Attorney General Maura Healey!
Currently serving her second term as “the People’s Lawyer,” since January of 2015 Maura Healey has led an office dedicated to advancing public safety and protecting the rights of all Massachusetts residents. Her top priority has been combating the ongoing opioid epidemic, from breaking up drug trafficking cartels to ensuring all public middle school students have access to prevention and wellness education. She has also tackled other key challenges facing our state, including reducing gun violence, protecting consumers, defending civil rights, and advancing the state’s clean energy economy.
Prior to her election, Ms. Healey served as Chief of the Attorney General’s Civil Rights Division and later as chief of two major bureaus, overseeing half of the office’s 600 employees and serving as the architect of the state’s successful challenge to the discriminatory federal Defense of Marriage Act. Earlier in her career, she served as a Special Assistant District Attorney in Middlesex County and as a junior partner at Wilmer Hale (formerly Hale and Dorr), where she represented clients in the financial services, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and other sectors.
