2010 Distinguished Bostonian - Fletcher Wiley.

Every year since 1983, the Greater Boston Chamber inducts one or more accomplished citizens into the Academy of Distinguished Bostonians at its Annual Meeting & Dinner. At the 101st Annual Meeting & Dinner on May 4, the Chamber honored three accomplished leaders for their significant contributions to the Greater Boston community.

Fletcher “Flash” Wiley is attorney of counsel at Bingham McCutchen LLP, one of the nation’s largest law firms. He also serves as a principal and the chairman of the advisory board for PRWT Services, Inc., one of the fastest growing minority enterprises and Black Enterprise Magazine’s 2009 Company of the Year. A practicing attorney for more than three decades, Wiley has worked in the areas of corporate and commercial law, small business development, entertainment law, and real estate. Early in his career he helped form the Boston-based law firm Budd, Reilly and Wiley that later became the largest minority-dominant firm in New England, and served as senior partner of Goldstein & Manello, P.C.

Wiley currently serves as director of The TJX Companies, Inc. and chairman and CEO of The Centaurus Group, LLC.  He is the founder of the Governor's Commission on Minority Business Development, and the former president and national chairman of the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association, Inc. From 1994 to 1996, Wiley served as chairman of the board of directors for the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. In 1999, he was selected by the Boston Business Journal as one of the 100 Most Influential Boston Business Leaders of the 20th Century.  

A dedicated civic leader, Wiley is a benefactor of Crispus Attucks Children's Center, Inc., a founding member of the Harvard Law School and the Harvard Kennedy School Black Alumni Organizations, and overseer of the New England Region Anti-Defamation League.  He has received numerous civic and professional awards throughout the years in recognition of his tremendous contributions to the Greater Boston community.
