MWRA Lifts Boil Water Order

Dear Chamber Member:

I would like to update you on the status of the water main break at the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) that took place on Saturday, May 1, causing Governor Deval Patrick to declare a state of emergency. Today, Governor Patrick announced that the “boil water” order that was issued for the metropolitan Boston area has been lifted after more than 800 tested water samples showed no signs of contamination. The water supply is now clean and safe for use by all businesses and individuals.

To ensure the safety of the 2 million Bostonians that were impacted, Governor Patrick is advising that residents take steps to clear their plumbing of untreated water. For more information on specific instructions, please click here or visit the MWRA’s website.

The Chamber commends government officials and the business community for working quickly and responsibly to respond to this crisis.

Sincerely,

Paul Guzzi

President & CEO
