Event Description: U.S. Representative Barney Frank United States Congress First elected to the United States Congress in 1980, Congressman Barney Frank serves as chairman of the Financial Services Committee. Over the past three decades, Frank has played a key role in bringing transportation funds to the Greater Boston region, fostering economic growth, and preserving jobs in local industries such as the life sciences. . Although he is often recognized for his work on national issues, Frank remains focused on the prosperity of the Commonwealth. Over the years he has fought to help New Bedford fishermen, to bring commuter rail service to the Southcoast, and to expand affordable housing. Prior to his service in Congress, Frank served for eight years as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and for three years as chief assistant to former Boston Mayor Kevin White. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
