Cokie Roberts
Political Commentator, ABC News, Senior News Analyst, NPR

Cokie Roberts is a nationally-renowned political commentator for ABC News and serves as a senior news analyst for National Public Radio (NPR).  From 1996-2002, she was co-anchor of ABC News’ Sunday morning broadcast, This Week with Sam Donaldson & Cokie Roberts, and served as the chief congressional analyst for ABC News.  Roberts covered policy, politics, and Congress for World News Tonight and served as the congressional correspondent for NPR for more than 10 years.  She and her husband, Steven V. Roberts, write a weekly column syndicated by United Media, and her op-eds frequently appear in The New York Times and The Washington Post.   

At NPR, Roberts has received numerous awards including the highest honor in public radio, the Edward R. Murrow Award. She was also the first broadcast journalist to win the prestigious Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for coverage of Congress. Prior to joining NPR, Roberts was a reporter for CBS News in Athens , Greece . She is the former president of the Radio and Television Correspondent's Association, and was appointed to the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation by President George W. Bush.  She is the author of the national bestseller We Are Our Mothers’ Daughters, as well as Founding Mothers: The Women Who Raised Our Nation. Roberts holds a degree in political science from Wellesley College .
