Public Health
Kathy Bilotas has 23 years of experience as a
public policy analyst, strategist, and political
advisor. Throughout her career she has focused
primarily on health care and human service
related issues. As Manager of Public Affairs for
Eli Lilly & Company, she is currently
responsible for all legislative and regulatory
issues of interest to Lilly within the states of
Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and
Maine. Kathy currently serves in a leadership
position representing the Industry (PhRMA), as
Task Force Chair in Rhode Island. She has also
served as a member of the State of Maine’s Drug
Return Implementation Group.
PG: What is the coolest part of your job?
KB: Working for a company that is improving
the health of hundreds of thousands of patients
around the world and being provided the
opportunity to advocate on behalf of people with
mental illness and their families.
PG: What is your favorite thing about
working in Boston?
KB: The rapid city pace and the historical
aspect of the city.
PG: Favorite place to take a client for
lunch?
KB: Vinalia restaurant on Arch Street.
PG: If you could have any job in Boston,
other than your own, what would it be and why?
KB: The opportunity to teach (college and
graduate students) about Government and Health
Care related issues. In sharing my knowledge and
experience, hopefully it would provide
confidence and creativity for someone trying to
decide where to go in their career.
PG: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
KB: Having made a positive impact on the
lives of others, whether it be through my
personal or professional actions.
PG: Favorite place to relax after a long
week?
KB: Our vacation home on the Cape in
Falmouth.
PG: What's the best piece of career advice
you have ever received?
KB: Make sure that every day, when look at
yourself in the mirror, you feel good about your
actions and what you have been able to
accomplish.
PG: Best place for an after work drink?
KB: City Bar at the Lenox Hotel
PG: How can young professionals expand their
networks and increase their impact in Boston?
KB: The
BFL
Program is a great place to start. Become
active within your community, and take the time
to volunteer in any organization(s) that
interest you.
PG: What reading material is on your
nightstand?
KB:
Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking
by Malcolm Gladwell.
PG: Tell us something we should know about
you.
KB: I feel very fortunate and very thankful
for all that I have accomplished in my personal
life, as well as my professional career.
