No, the Chamber is an independent, non-profit business organization. While we work closely with leaders in government, business, academia, and the nonprofit sector, we are not part of the City of Boston or any government agency.
The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce is the convener, voice, and advocate of our diverse and collaborative membership who drive Greater Boston’s success. We connect leaders, influence public policy, develop future talent, and drive initiatives that support a more prosperous, competitive, and inclusive region.
Any organization can join the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. Our membership includes businesses of all sizes, from sole proprietors, startups and small businesses to major employers, as well as nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, professional services firms, and public sector partners. The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce membership is only available at the corporate level, and we do not offer individual memberships.
The Chamber is a non-profit entity (501c6) that serves the business community while the Chamber Foundation is a charitable non-profit (501c3) that serves people through initiatives focused on workforce and talent development, and small business growth. Participation within the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Foundation is not limited to membership; any individual 18+ can participate in events.
The Chamber represents large and small businesses, corporations, non-profit, civic, and government organizations, and their employees.
The Chamber is located at 265 Franklin Street in downtown Boston and is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
