PG: What is the coolest part of your job?
JR: Meeting a wide variety of people from
diverse industries and helping them solve their
marketing challenges. Also, leading individuals
and a team of people and watching them grow and
succeed. Going to Fenway, the Garden and
Gillette Stadium to entertain clients isn't bad
either!
PG: What is your favorite thing about
working in Boston?
JR: It's the "Smallest, Big City in
America!" Everyone seems to be connected by
about "two degrees of separation".
PG: Favorite place to take a client for
lunch?
JR: Abe and Louie's.
PG: If you could have any job in Boston,
other than your own, what would it be and why?
JR: Owning my own business with the total
freedom and control of my destiny (and the
profits!)!
PG: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
JR: Owning my own business or President of a
Media Company.
PG: Favorite place to relax after a long day
or week?
JR: Jogging the streets of Boston.
Nantucket. The deck at my condo.
PG: What's the best piece of career advice
you have ever received?
JR: "Seek to understand, in order to be
understood" and "I can, I will, I did".
PG: Who do you admire in the business world?
JR: Bob Kraft. John Henry. Wyc Grousbeck.
Jack Connors. The "Life is Good" guys (John and
Bert Jacobs).
PG: Best place for an after work drink?
JR: The Vault.
PG: How can young professionals expand their
networks and increase their impact in Boston?
JR:
Join the Chamber. Read everyday. Everyday
introduce yourself to 3 new people inside or
outside your organization. Volunteer.
PG: What reading material is on your
nightstand?
JR:
The Long Tail (by Chris Anderson),
Blue Ocean Strategy (by W. Chan Kim and
Renée Mauborgne), and
Mavericks at Work (by William Taylor and
Polly Labarre).
PG: Tell us something we should know about
you.
JR: I believe anything in business and life
can be achieved if you set a specific goal. I
start every day with that in mind.
